We analyze data and generate graphics primarily in R. We can use an alternative statistical package (e.g., SAS) at the request of a client if the software is available at the center and the statistician is familiar with it.
If you would like to install a statistical package for your own use, we recommend the free and open source R environment (available for Windows, Mac, and Linux/UNIX) and its point and click GUI add-on, R Commander. For commercial alternatives like SAS and SPSS, please contact OIT to obtain a license. We do not recommend MS Excel for real statistical work.
